Dr. Katharina Schmitt, Head of Research Department of Pediatric Cardiology at the Deutsches Herzzentrum Berlin, was the first international guest to present at the Heart of the Matter series of joint Palestinian-Israeli seminars. Dr Schmitt gave a lecture on Neuroprotection, protecting the brain during surgery.The third joint seminar in Pediatric Cardiology was attended by Israeli and Palestinian physicians from the Palestine Medical Complex and the Wolfson Medical Seminar. The seminar focused on pediatrics, including diabetes, neuro-surgery, cardiology and cultural sensitivity in medical setting. The lecture on cultural sensitvity was presented by Dr. Yitzhak Levav and was followed by a group activity which enabled further engagement between the participants. The medical seminar is part of Save a Child‘s Heart flagship program ”Heart of the Matter”, funded by USAID and the European Union Partnership for Peace Program.
