We couldn’t have been more excited to see Muqadam in Tanzania! Since his time in Israel, we’ve missed his smile and kisses. It was especially heartwarming to see him reunite with his favorite volunteer, Dorit. Although more than a year and thousands of miles apart, the two played away in Swahili and Hebrew as if no one else was around for hours. "Thanks to him," Dorit Kahana says, she learned to communicate in a language so different from her own. Muqadam arrived at SACH in 2017 in need of medical care. After spending more than one year with us due to different medical complications, Muqadam had made a big impression on everyone, but no one could care for him and his mother like Dorit could. She sat patiently tending to his needs, teaching him to be independent, encouraging him to grow. She also supported his mother, Zena, every step of the way, as she cared for Muqadam while away from her husband and daughter. Now, watching Muqadam walk despite the paralysis he suffers from is a source of joy for Dorit and all who know him. More so, it is a testament to the love and medical care he's received, from Dorit and people like her, in Israel and now back at home. Thank you Dorit, for giving your heart out to Muqadam and all of the children of Save a Child's Heart. We are so happy that you joined us on this mission and we are so lucky to call you part of the SACH family.
“Volunteering in the save a child's heart means for me giving and receiving love. Refill with the energy every time. Meet and get to know women and children from different cultures and religions and understand that mother is mother and child is a child regardless of the origin of the culture or religion to which they belong.”
